Exclusive biker party coverage Bama bike fest 2008 summer rally I had a GREAT time, but there were some issues... This rally is one of the fastest growing biker parties in the south east, and they're currenty going through some growing pains. Both the bands scheduled to play bailed, leaving the organizers scrambling to find some music for the weekend. And the main power transformer blew, so the electrical company had to come replace it (give them credit, it took them less than 30 minutes). And they didn't anticipate all the RV'ers bringing motor homes without full water tanks, so water pressure was an issue for all them people that like to bring it all with them. And take three showers a day. And fill their rubber pools in the campgrounds. But you know what? I had a great time. It was hotter than hell, but wadja expect? It IS July in Alabama. The bar had a/c and was open 24/7 during the entire rally so you could always get away from the heat. Two (or was it three?) wet t shirt contests, a couple of nipple sizing contests, a ''just get nekkid'' contest or two, gogo poles (complete with gogo girls) running pretty well non stop after sun down and lot's of extra-curicular activities out in the campgrounds. One thing they do DO at this party is give away a ton of free stuff, everything from t shirts to hula hoops. And of course beads. And the drinking games are something I've yet to see at any other rally. Not to mention the guy actually puts up a $1,000 of his own money for the Saturday night wet t shirt contest. Some of the people there were complaining that the party was getting too raunchy, so they decided to actually make the wet t shirt contest... well... a wet t shirt contest. Of course then everybody ELSE complained it wasn't ''skin to win'' leaving Frank pulling out his hair in frustration. Hahahah... poor guy ain't got that much left, give him a break! I liked this party and personally I had a great time. Before writing this I took them time to call Frank and Connie (they organize this rally) so I could give you the straight scoop. They've already got guys out there resolving ALL the issues mentioned above, so you RV'ers can rest easy knowing you'll have both plenty of water & electricity at the October party. And for all you old-school tent campers they're adding several hot water tanks to the showers so there WILL be lot's more hot water available in the fall. And of course from now on all contests will be ''skin to win'', so all you rowdy bastards can rest assured that the fall party will be no holds barred. This rally's a work in progress, and already a blast. The ONLY reason I gave it a lower rating is mostly because of the problems the RV'ers experienced, but honestly I don't review campsites, only the actual party itself. You should be looking forward to their fall party October 24-26th, it promises to be one to remember and a great way to wrap up the year! And if you couldn't make it to their summer rally, don't worry! They've got another rally scheduled in October this year... visit their offical web site www.bamabikefest.com for more info. |
